About the speakers

MC Grammar

MC Grammar

Jacob Mitchell, aka MC Grammar, has over 14 years teaching experience. He has won both National Teacher of the Year Award and London Teacher of the Year Award.

Jacob has worked as an educational consultant and created and sold many of his own resources to schools.

He raps popular children's books on social media and reaches a global audience.

He has also appeared in MC Grammar's Wonder Raps and Rap Tales on Sky Kids, and been a Global Ambassador for World Book Day. He's the author of The Adventures of Rap Kid. Find him on social media using @MrMCGrammar.

Becky Goddard-HillBecky Goddard-Hill

Becky Goddard-Hill is a former social worker and child development trainer.

She also holds a postgraduate diploma in Psychotherapy, is a certified life coach and is an accredited member of the of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Becky is also the author of a range of fun activity books focused on children and teens emotional health and wellbeing. Becky lives in Nottingham and has two teenage children.

Kiran SattiKiran Satti

Kiran is an experienced primary teacher and leader, specialising in Early Reading and Phonics, Reading and Literacy. She is currently Deputy Principal and National Lead Practitioner at Oasis Community Learning.

Kiran has written several chapters for different Edu books, and is the 2023 UKLA Farshore Double Award Winner – Reading Champion and Author's Choice for her DEI Pupil leadership work around Reader Volition and Agency.

She is passionate about advocating alternative fairytales and diversifying the representation in children's literature; empowering fiction for girls; and using texts that immerse children into different worlds and lives – specifically stories centred around immigration and the lived experiences of refugees.

Dr Fiona Abades BarclayDr Fiona Abades Barclay

Fiona is a Senior Research and Impact Officer at BookTrust. Previously, she worked in schools for over 10 years as both a teaching assistant and tutor. Fiona holds a PhD in Critical Media and Culture Studies.

She recently completed postdoctoral research at the London School of Economics and Political Science, which explored children's digital literacy in various school settings, focusing on enhancing their understanding of online rights and their ability to recognise and resist digital misinformation.
