Last year, we asked all children using Letterbox Club to tell us their thoughts on the contents of their parcels, how they're making a difference to their reading habits, and how receiving Letterbox Club makes them feel.
306 children aged 6 to 14 years old responded to our children's survey... and this is what they told us:
- 96% of children like or love Letterbox Club
- 89% of children like or love the books in their parcels
- 72% of children are reading more on their own after receiving Letterbox Club parcels
An impact on reading habits
Letterbox Club is a series of six sets of Letterbox Club parcels designed to be gifted to individual children or used as a classroom resource.
Each of the parcels include reading books from a range of different genres, a maths game and exciting extra resources such as bookmarks and pens.
Everything you'll find in the Letterbox Club parcels has been carefully curated by our experts with an understanding of the needs of children experiencing vulnerability or disadvantage, so you can be confident that all the books and numeracy resources are age appropriate and sensitively chosen to engage children.
Results from our annual Letterbox Club surveys show that it has a positive impact on children's reading habits. Children report enjoying reading more, and feeling more confident about it, after receiving Letterbox Club parcels. In our 2024 impact report, 72% of children say they read more on their own, or with an adult (47%), due to Letterbox Club.
Support for social and emotional needs
A wide body of research shows that reading can support children to develop better mental wellbeing, self-esteem and emotional regulation. Letterbox Club specifically is designed to foster feelings of agency, value, and most importantly, happiness.
