Donate now and double your impact

From 18 to 25 March, BookTrust is once again teaming up with Big Give to give supporters the opportunity to make double the difference.

All donations made through the Big Give website won't only support BookTrust's mission to bring the life-changing benefits of reading to as many children as possible, but will also be matched by Big Give.

That means every donation will have double the impact, making a difference where it's needed the most.

Why reading matters

Our research shows that almost all parents and carers know that reading is important but can face many challenges in doing so.

For children and families experiencing vulnerability - particularly for foster, kinship, and adoptive parents and carers - there may be further barriers to overcome to engage a child in reading.

Reading together brings both immediate and longer-term benefits to children experiencing vulnerability and their parents and carers. Research shows that reading and sharing stories supports bonding, stability, identity, wellbeing, social and emotional growth, and attainment. In many ways, reading can be seen as a protective factor against the adversity some children experience.

A child who reads is more likely to do better at school, be happier and more creative, experience better mental wellbeing, and have a greater chance of overcoming disadvantage caused by inequalities.

Every child should have access to these life-enhancing benefits and the joys of reading and books, but unfortunately, too many children are still missing out.

Donations always make a real difference, but from 18 to 25 March the impact will be even bigger.

What your donations can do

A £12 donation, matched to £24, could provide six refugee families with dual-language books, supporting their children's integration into a new country through the joy of reading.

Or a £30 contribution, doubled to £60, could put carefully selected books into the hands of 20 toddlers from low-income families, giving them the chance to be inspired and discover the magic of reading early in life.

Donate through Big Give now and help us to make sure no child misses out on the lifelong benefits of reading.
