Reading Spaces: Discover the amazing book corners designed by students

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Waterstones Children's Laureate, children across the country drew their dream reading corners - and the winners have now been chosen.

What better way to mark the 20th anniversary of the Waterstones Children's Laureate than with a competition?

Our League of Laureates came up with an amazing giveaway for primary schools across the country, all designed to help children develop a love of reading.

They asked students to design their dream reading corner and were overwhelmed by the response.

But they managed to choose three amazing winners - and some incredible prizes are on the way to their schools.

They'll be able to choose a reading corner set worth up to £1,500 from BookSpace, and they'll also receive a selection of up to 30 books from the wonderful Laureates themselves and two copies of Flights of Fancy, a book released to mark the 20th anniversary.

So without further ado, let's meet the winners, along with comments from Lauren Child about why they were chosen:

1. Amira from Springwood Heath

Lauren says: 'Beautifully coloured and designed. I love Amira's mark-making. The contrast of rainbows set against black is very striking. It made me happy to look at it.'

2. Ben from Treloar School

Lauren says: 'This is the most exquisite piece of painting - Ben uses colour beautifully and you need to see his work in real life in order to see what I am talking about! His sense of design is also beautiful.'

3. Fatema from Northwood School

Lauren says: 'This is so carefully considered. Fatema has gone to such effort to explain in picture form how she would create a reading corner. I particularly love that she has set no limits on her imagination and has made sure to put every detail in place. It's fabulous.'

As well as our three grand prize winners, 17 runners-up will receive a selection of books from the Laureates and two copies of Flights of Fancy. Check out their brilliant entries in our gallery below!
