Mum and baby reading

Bookstart

Bookstart gives free books to all children at two key ages before school to help families read together every day and inspire children to develop a love of books and reading.

These are given in person to families by health, library and early years professionals, who support families, ensuring that every child receives their Bookstart packs.

National Bookstart Week is BookTrust's annual event celebrating the joys and benefits of sharing books, stories and rhymes from an early age. Each year, we choose a theme that gets families involved in fun, themed events across the country.

Letterbox Club

Children are registered to take part in the Letterbox Club by local authorities and schools. Each child then receives their own colourful parcel of books, number games and stationery items, once a month for six months.

You might have received a letter saying your child will be taking part, or if you'd like to find out if they are eligible, please get in touch with your local authority or your child's school.

School Library Pack

Please note: our School Library Pack will not be delivered in 2023 while we take time to learn and research how we can best offer more targeted support for secondary school aged children from low-income backgrounds in the face of rising costs. Our Special School Library Pack will still be delivered to qualifying Special Schools.
