Uh-oh Niko: Bedtime
Publisher: Ladybird Books
It's time for Niko the bear to go to bed. But uh-oh, he's lost his slipper. Then, uh-oh, he gets the bathroom just a tiny bit wet. Finally, after reading a book and finding a cuddly toy, Niko is ready for sleep.
Throughout, there are sliders to push and flaps to open. This ability to change what is on the page, and to make things appear, will delight babies and toddlers. It's also good for their developing fine motor skills.
The gentle rhyme makes it easy to read aloud, and the repetition of 'Uh-oh Niko' means that the child will be waiting to hear it.
The illustrations have bold outlines and use bright primary colours, meaning that even the youngest reader will enjoy looking at them. The familiar domestic setting is full of recognisable items, like a ball and a toy bus and some Lego, and there's even a chameleon to spot in every scene.
This sturdy, interactive board book is very sweet, and perfect to share from one year upwards. There is another in the series, too, called Uh-oh Niko: Bathtime.
