Enter the world of Septimus Heap, Wizard Apprentice, in this fast-paced fantastical tale. Walking through the forest, Silas Heap spots a snow-dusted bundle, which turns out to be a baby with violet eyes. Matron Midwife bursts from The Ramblings as he arrives home. She carries another baby, his seventh son Septimus. But Septimus is dead.

Meanwhile, the evil Necromancer commands the assassination of the Queen and locks up the Extraordinary Wizard, in order to carry out his dark plans. Only two children can stop him, but neither is aware of their power. So begins an extraordinary adventure for the Heap family, aided by ghosts, the Extraordinary Wizard, boy 412 and a dribbling wolf.
