Kids Fight Plastic

Publisher: Walker Books

By 2050 there will be more plastic than fish in the ocean.

Kids Fight Plastic presents powerful facts about how oceans and their inhabitants are suffering from our over-reliance on plastic and features fifty bitesize missions to chomp through, from a #2minutebeachclean to how to fight plastics in lunchboxes.

With superhero points to collect along the way, young people must complete eco-friendly challenges like making a sandwich wrapper from beeswax, learning what the symbols and letters on plastic bottles mean (PE-LD 04?!) or using a nifty flowchart to help them choose which toys to pick and which to ditch.

This is a great book for young eco-warriors, providing knowledge and inspiration to get them active in their homes, schools and communities. It’s highly readable, clearly written by an activist and expert and perfect for Greta Thunberg fans everywhere; it’s a book for our time. There’s a good level of detail for teenagers but also accessible for a child as young as eight.

Tim Weeson’s illustrations adorn each page of this fabulously fun book and the goofy, comic-style work with the words perfectly making for a book to empower young people with power, positivity and drive.
