Publisher: Scholastic

Want to sing songs that were sung in the trenches, learn the codes used to communicate or find out about the role of animals in the First World War? Then this is the book for you. Terry Deary has created a book which details how life was in the trenches and at home for both The Allies and The Central Powers.

You can find interesting facts about how the soldiers entertained themselves and how life changed for women during the war. The information is presented in short bites with cartoons and illustrations which add humour. The book tells the story of the war chronologically and so can easily be read from beginning to end but it also lends itself to being dipped into.
