Hi From Outer Space

Publisher: Allen & Unwin

When Alex Lê takes the dog for a walk in the park, the last thing she expects to see is a spaceship and a three-eyed green alien emerging from it. And when it asks her to ‘Take me to your leader’, she is almost certain she must be hallucinating.

But it turns out that Hieronymus, or Hi for short, is very real, is from Planet Wendy, and has been dropped off by his parents for a three-day stay to do research for his Earth Studies assignment. He is quite surprised that Alex can see him but pleased he has found a friendly Earthling who can help him with his two obsessions: meeting the Prime Minister and seeing as much human footwear as possible.

Once she gets over the shock, Alex is equally pleased to have found inspiration for her entry to the National Young Cartoonist Competition, but keeping Hi in line proves to be a bit of a challenge!

This brilliantly imagined and side-splittingly funny story is complemented by comic-style illustrations on almost every page which bring Hi and Alex’s (mis)adventures to life.

Accessible and thought-provoking. Great for fans of graphic novels, science fiction and laughing out loud.
