Daire Santos is used to keeping her head down and staying out of trouble, following her globe-trotting single mother, a successful make-up artist, from city to city where she is working on film sets. Fans of the popular The Immortals series will not be disappointed by this, the first in a new series by Alyson Noel, which offers readers plenty of romance, excitement and mystery. The atmospheric New Mexico setting is particularly well drawn, and with references to shamanism and Native American folklore, Fated makes a welcome change to the now well-established vampire-and-werewolf tradition of young adult paranormal romance.
