That’s Not My Chick
Publisher: Usborne
This touch and feel board book encourages little fingers to explore the different shapes and textures on each page.
Which Chick is your chick – the one with the soft wings? The one with a fuzzy tummy? What about the really soft chick? Each page has a different texture to explore, from the shiney, squishy beak on the front cover, to scratchy feet and a smooth shell. With clear, bold illustrations and simple text, it’s great to share with little ones.
There are lots of books in the That’s Not My… series, with lots of different animals to choose from. That’s Not My Chick is particularly good because the descriptive text for the ‘touch’ element matches really well with the actual texture. Plus the shapes of the different things to touch are really clear and distinctive – the beak is a nice diamond shape, the eggshell is very egg-shaped, and the feet are brilliantly feet-shaped! This makes the book an especially good experience for babies and toddlers with a visual impairment.
A fantastic series for babies and toddlers to have fun with. Look out for That’s Not My Lion and That’s Not My Bee too.
