Six Dinner Sid: A Highland Adventure

(1 reviews with an average rating of 3 out of 5)

Publisher: Hodder

A sequel to Sid's Smarties Prize-winning first adventure, this book finds him on holiday with all six of his owners, who have rented adjacent log cabins in the Scottish Highlands.

Readers are subtly reminded of the responsibilities of pet ownership, and then introduced to a variety of upland wildlife, from wildcat to golden eagle, and the difference between their lives and Sid’s domestic arrangements.

Quiet humour pervades both text and images, notably the rabbits’ hilarity when Sid gets stuck down their hole, and in small items of Sid’s home life.

Moore’s great strength lies in the quality and content of her illustrations, which rival Shirley Hughes’ for their detail and the comparisons readers can draw with their own experience.
