Riot

England 2018, and the recession has brought the country to its knees. The authorities cannot cope with the burgeoning population and resort to drastic measures: enforced sterilisation of all teenagers without further education plans or jobs. Teens take to the streets, including activist Tia, in a protest that quickly turns into a full scale riot. The Government means business and Tia is forced to flee for her life with Cobain, a fellow revolutionary. Will they really be able to fight the system and put a stop to this injustice?

From the opening page, this fast paced novel feels like a rollercoaster ride, full of thrills and spills. The plot depicts a disintegrating society desperate for a solution and feels rather uncomfortably close to home. A thought provoking and compelling read.
