Meep is the smartest robot in the world, packed with tech and specially designed to search for alien life on Mars. But when she arrives on the red planet there are no aliens to be found... or are there? 

While Meep dutifully searches through the dust and boulders and sends her images back to Earth, a whole band of cheeky aliens play just out of sight! Then, when her batteries run out, the mischievous Martians lend a hand to get Meep safely back to Earth. 

This superb picture book is translated from its original Irish and tells a heartwarming and gently humorous story. Little Meep is full of character and resilience as she is sent into outer space all alone. Luckily for the reader, we know that there are in fact aliens all around her, providing lots of fun “they’re behind you!” moments for young children, who will enjoy the subtext. 

Paddy Donnelly’s illustrations are characteristically luscious and immersive; you can really feel the coldness of space and the dusty winds of Mars.

Children who love space, robots and aliens will love this book, and it would be a great inspiration for art activities like making your own robot explorer using old cereal boxes and cardboard tubes.
