Black Gables

If you were going to build a Halloween theme park, what would you put in it?

Maybe some beetles, a few cockroaches, plenty of cobwebs, and, for the best atmosphere, a creepy, green fog that hovers everywhere but especially over a sinister, dark lake. A lake where ghoulish figures appear dripping with slimy weed...

And that is also a perfect description of Black Gables, the village where Rosella’s mum grew up and where they have returned to try and restore the memory she lost in an accident. 

So far, no memories have come back, but Rosella’s new school is even creepier than the village, with the teachers almost as decayed as the buildings. Something here is seriously wrong. Can Rosella unravel the mystery of Black Gables before she becomes its latest victim?  

This eerie mystery has all the tropes of a classic gothic ghost story with an underlying sense of threat and claustrophobia to make readers uneasy.  

Despite plenty of clues, it’s never quite clear where the story is leading, so anyone who enjoys being kept in suspense will have fun trying to guess how Rosella will finally overcome the curse of Black Gables.
