Bird Bath
Publisher: Macmillan Children’s Books
It’s bathtime for four fluffy little birds: time to fill the bath with warm water – not too hot or cold! It’s important to have bath toys too, and sponge, soap and shampoo.
When the birds are all ready, they have a super time in the bath, making lots of bubbles and hiding in them until it’s time to rinse off and get all cosy and dry. Lovely!
Last, just when they’re all ready for bed, two more birds arrive – is it their turn for a bath now?
Steve Antony’s sweet, simple book about bath time is just about as cute as you can get, with minimal text in a nice large font that is super accessible. A veteran picture book creator for 0-3s, Antony knows what works well for small ones and their carers and Bird Bath is a perfect example of a simple concept made with just the right level of text and illustration for this age group.
Bathtime is a relatable and universal experience for little ones, so this is a perfect book to help toddlers understand the words for the things we use in the bath – bubbles, shampoo, soap, plus, too hot, too cold – as well as fun onomatopoeic words such as splish-splash and rub-a-dub. Little ones will enjoy the fun and playfulness related to the special bonding time that is bathtime and everyone – adult and child – will enjoy the adorable pictures.
